First TRABIT summer school

The first TRABIT training school was held in Munich in the first week of October. The program consisted of 4 days of courses and seminars and in one day of meetings with the program officer. The week was both fun and educational. We learned about interesting topics in medical imaging and we met the other students from the TRABIT network and some of their supervisors, coming from all around the world.

The first three days of the training school were held at the Klinikum rechts der Isar, the university hospital of the Technical University of Munich. During these days we learned about different topics in medical imaging, and we got insight in how doctors diagnose clinical cases by participating at their daily meetings. For example we learned the differences between several techniques to acquire medical images, like MR, CT, DWI and how to distinguish between a tumor, an infarct and a stroke by just visually inspecting the images.

Here is a picture of us taken in front of the hospital.

On the fourth day we travelled to Garmisch, a small town close to Munich, where we had a seminar about scientific writing held by Dr. Carsten Rohr. This seminar gave us some useful tips on how to structure a scientific paper and on how to effectively communicate your results to the readers.

Close to Garmisch there is the Partnachklamm, a beautiful gorge where we went for an excursion in the afternoon.

This training school will be also remembered for the fun times we had together.

See you in Copenhagen next February!
